How To Give a Cat a Haircut

Start with an overly fluffy cat. This is my white persian, Jazz...

Next, prepare the equipment. A 15-year-old Robocut and a 1965 model Rainbow vacuum cleaner...

Fire up the Rainbow. Turn on the Robocut. Go over all parts of the cat with the Robocut clippers. Empty the Rainbow each time the water container gets filled with hair. The result...

A happy kitty!

That was REALLY funny! Does the cat enjoy this procedure? I'd give anything to see pictures of the robocut machine in action.

I can testify to the fact that you can do ANYTHING to Jazz and he is going to be aloof about it. He's a funny cat. ~Mindy

Did you seriously cut the cat's hair with a vacuum cleaner? Still shaking my head...

I'm back. Does that really work with a special attachment? Never heard of it before!!!

P.S. Jazz is adorable!

Jazz is the most laid back cat in the world. You can pick him up, flip him over on his back and cradle him like a baby. He will just lay there and purr. He's very trusting.

Believe it or not, he enjoys his haircut. At least for most of it. It's a slow process and he starts to get a little impatient by the end. He seems to like the way the air flow feels against his skin. And he likes the way it feels to be rid of the extra hair when it's over.

FringeGirl, I am actually thinking about making a video of Jazz getting his haircut. So stay tuned. That may be a future video blog!

Not that Jazz wasn't already spoiled, but Mindy has taken that spoiling to the HNL. (If you watch Saturday Night Live, you may know that HNL stands for... Ho Nutha Level.)

When Mindy comes over, Jazz starts following her around "talking" to her. He's asking for "bones." Now, bones are what Mindy calls cat treats. She has her own cats conditioned for their nightly "bones" and now Jazz is just as insistent! As you can imagine, Jazz LOVES Mindy! (But, then again, don't we all?!)

Amy, I'm not sure how familiar you are with the Robocut, but it really does work. It's got an electric motor and a rotary blade. It attaches to the vacuum hose and the vacuum sucks the hair up into the blade. The cut hair then goes into the vacuum cleaner. No mess!

There is a guard that the hair has to get through to get to the blade. That guard protects Jazz's skin and makes sure his hair is cut to a fairly uniform 3/4" all over. The Robocut is made for people and Jazz's hair is a lot thicker than ours. Which just means it takes longer.

Oh... and, Debbie, Jazz ALWAYS looks that way! :-)

Thanks, everyone, for the comments. I'll show them to Jazz later. After he's had his bones!

Thank you so much for your comments on my blog. I'm not very good at putting myself first. It's come from generations of women who always put everyone's needs before their own. I just may give it a try -- maybe a pedicure is in order. Hope you & your mom are doing well & when I say my prayers today, you can count on being included. Maybe we are all in this together. Peace, Jan

R O F L M A O !!!! i thought it was going to turn out like the joke of giving your cat medicine!!!
but the cat seems to have something other than happy thoughts tho!!

Whoa. Did you really do that to your cat? And he let you? Umm. I have to agree with Debbie - he has a definite attitude!
