2009 Porker of the Year

Citizens Against Government Waste, the self-proclaimed "America's #1 Taxpayer Watchdog" has announced their Porker of the Year Award for 2009.

A "pork" project is a line-item in an appropriations bill that designates tax dollars for a specific purpose in circumvention of established budgetary procedures. Our government spent $19.6 Billion in 2009 on "pork" projects. To win the award for Porker of the Year, you had to have voted for more taxpayer dollars in pork projects than any of your competitors.

Drum roll please.

The 2009 Porker of the Year Award goes to, not surprisingly, Elmer Fudd.... errrr I mean Barney Frank, the Democratic Representative from Massachusetts.

But what may surprise you is that the runner-up is our own Texas Senator and Governor wannabe, Republican Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Draw your own conclusions.
