Bird Watching in Poetry

It was a cloudy morning in Poetry, Texas. But the birds didn't seem to mind. Thought I'd share a few quick pictures of some of the birds around Mindy's feeder this morning.

There were lots of Black-capped Chickadees...

A Yellow-bellied Sapsucker...

An American Goldfinch in winter plumage...

This is a Myrtle's Warbler. It's also known as a Yellow-rumped Warbler...

A Chipping Sparrow...

And a male Cardinal...

Mindy has some prime bird watching real estate! It's always fun to see what shows up!

Hello Mindy, those photos are fantastic... He could sell them, you should frame them and sell them in your store....sandi

What I didn't mention is that he was standing on my blanket box taking the photos through the window. It was entertaining, just watching him. We are getting decent at identifying them. But, on those rare times that we are stumped, there are 3 field guides next to the window. We really enjoy watching them come to eat! ~Mindy

David ~ these shots are Exquisite! So beautifully detailed that I feel like I am right there within touching distance. I tried to pick a favorite ~ looking again and again at them and I can't ~ they are all so perfect! I am sending your link to my bird watching friend, Dulcy, as I know she will love these as do I!!!

Who you calling a yellow bellied sapsucker? Oh wait, that's a low down, lily livered, bowlegged varmint, isn't it? My bad!
When I saw the title, I must have been in the "way back machine" because I thought you were going to talk about girls or at least Mindy! My bad again!
Great photos as always, David!

Apparently Blogger likes me again, so here goes another comment. Let's hope this one goes through.

I LOVE your bird pictures. It seems that all the birds must go to Texas for the winter. My daughter is convinced butterflies goes to Texas.

Seriously, you're an awesome photographer and those birdies could be framed and hung on your wall or in Mindy's shop. I bet you'd sell them in no time!

I just stumbled across your blog. Love your photos! And I just had to steal your "things Obama has accomplished" counter. Hope that's okay!
