Coming Soon

Mindy and I took a run out to Athens to visit the new Winnie and Tulula's Antique Mall where she will have a space. It gave me the chance to take my new Canon 50D for a test drive.

I won't steal her thunder because she's REALLY excited about the new place. So be sure to visit her blog. I know she'll be posting lots of information in the near future. But I wanted to post up a couple pictures at least. Do you see the cool wall to the right of the door in the following photo? Somewhere along this general area will become Mindy's space.

I haven't even read the manual on my new camera yet. It behaves very similar to my 30D, but has some extra features that I haven't learned yet. I'm still a little lost, but I'm sure I'll pick it up with a little more use and some reading.

Behind the building there is some neat brick patterns and colors. It seemed like a nice backdrop for this portrait of my love.

LATE EDIT: I didn't notice the cloud and sun reflection in her sunglasses until this afternoon. Thought it was kind of fun! The following photo may look "blown up," but it is actually a REDUCTION in the full resolution of my new 50D! I think I'm going to really like this camera!

Comming Soon

I don't even know what to say. This sign went up across the street from my office in Mesquite, Texas. Seriously. I can't make this stuff up, folks.

I guess big trucks will be comming and going at all hours of the day and night. There goes the neighborhood.

Also comming soon to a photographer near and dear to you... a Canon 50D. Yes, I pulled the trigger on a camera upgrade this morning. Should be here middle of next week. I have no justification for this extravagance. Other than I got a nice tax refund. Well, that and 15 is a bigger number than 8. It's almost twice as big, in fact. Now I can print life-sized photos of Mindy without loss of resolution. Cool!

Here's something else that's been a little while in comming...

Amy of Whisperwood Cottage tagged me with a "Six Things About Me" meme. So now I'm playing along. She knew I'd comme around eventually.

I'll avoid the obvious stuff like I love Mindy, photography, hunting, etc. I figure if you've read my blog, you already know all that. But here are some things you might not know.

STEP 1: 6 THINGS ABOUT ME
1. I had to Google to find out what a meme is!
2. I am often absent-minded or forgetful.
3. I am often absent-minded or forgetful.
4. I am allergic to Benadryl. That's an allergy medicine. Let that sink in for a minute.
5. I love a good margarita. On the rocks. Not too sweet. Salt on the rim.
6. Briefs.

STEP 2: TAG, YOU'RE IT!
Whew! Now it's your turn. These are the people I'm tagging...
1. Beth at Playin With The Paulsens!
2. Tracy at A Simple Country Life
3. Jan at Summer Sundays
4. Cher at The Texas Woman
5. Tricia at the domestic fringe
6. Brett at The Vintage Husband

Your mission, should you choose to accept it (and it's strictly optional, people), is to post six things about yourself, identify six new people, and let those people know they've been tagged. Oh... and link back to this post, if you don't mind. Now, you don't have to do any of this. No pressure! But if it's not too much trouble and it doesn't cramp your style, you're certainly invited to play along. Have fun!

And comme back and see me real soon!

Romance in the Old West

"Howdy there, pretty lady!"

Mindy and I had our pictures taken in western attire at Judge Roy Bean's Old Time Photos in Eureka Springs. But they wouldn't let us take the outfits back to the cabin.

Leola's - A Target-Rich Environment

Ohhhhh! I'm in BIG trouble now! You see, Mindy and I went to Eureka Springs for my birthday weekend. No, that's not why I'm in trouble. We had a wonderful time!

On Sunday, we went to Ozark, Missouri to visit Leola's. And I took a bunch of pictures inside the store. No, that's not why I'm in trouble either! Jan of Summer Sundays said I was welcome to take pictures.

No, you see the reason I'm in big trouble is because I am blogging the photos before Mindy has a chance to steal them from my Flickr and blog them herself! Ohhhhh, NOW you understand!

I shot the following at three different aperture settings. This one gave me the amount of DOF I was looking for...

Leola's is a photographer's dream! Some of the most beautifully arranged sets I've seen. Except for the first photo of Jan and Mindy, I shot all of these with my 50mm lens and without flash. What fun! I'm sorry, Mindy, but I just couldn't resist showing these off! Can you forgive me? Did I mention that I LOVE you?!

Isn't this one warm and "welcoming?"

I love this porch-like display...

These flowers are for my sweetheart! My darling! The love of my life!

It looks like Mindy is saying, "Oh, you're in big trouble, mister!" Please put in a good word for me if you talk to her! Sweetheart, I love you! I really do!

I really like the colors and textures here...

Mindy asked me to shoot these mirrors and brushes. I'm glad she did!

The roller skates bring back memories!

These flowers are for you too, baby! I love you so much!

Sometimes I don't even know why I shoot what I do. But this one works for me...

Mindy and I had a great time at Leola's! Jan is just as sweet and wonderful in person as she is on her blog! Everything is for sale, so if you see something you like, get in touch with her. And I know Mindy will forgive me... Right?!

Pray for me!
